Irina Mirkina is an AI strategist and a leading international expert on responsible AI. Working for increasing global awareness of both benefits and risks of artificial intelligence, Dr Mirkina is currently the AI Lead for the Office of Innovation at the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).
Having built a successful career in academia and the private sector, she joined UNICEF to advance the ethical development and use of AI systems that respect children’s rights and save children’s lives. She is currently serving as a co-chair of Community of Practice on AI for the Digital Public Goods Alliance, a co-organizer of the UN Generative AI Practice Group, a member of the UN Intra-Agency Working Group on AI, and an expert for the European Commission Research Executive Agency.
For her work on responsible AI for social good, she has been included in the lists of 100 Brilliant Women in AI Ethics™ and Inspired Minds Top 65 Most Influential Women 2023.
